It's sad but true, we do have 'scam artist' in our market place. When there is a great demand for an hot item, some people are just out to make a buck. SO BUYER'S BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! I want to share an interesting article with you that will raise the hair up on your neck. Let us begin. I bring you an urgent warning today about America’s most fraudulent “health food”—one that’s likely in your kitchen cabinet right now. It’s extra virgin olive oil. Problem is, you have no idea what’s in that bottle! I think you’ll be as shocked as I was when you read this disturbing news and wonder... How DARE anyone sell us food like this! Please understand, I’m not talking about all olive oil. Far from it. Good, fresh, authentic, and pure extra virgin olive oil is one of Mother Nature’s most delicious and healthful marvels. Consuming high-quality, healthful fats like pure olive oil is one of the most effective ways to maintain a lean and fit body. That’s because healthful fats like olive oil help you feel full longer. Also, when you replace empty carb calories with healthful fat calories, you help stoke your body’s “fat burning furnace” to burn more fat, including fat reserves you may be carrying around your stomach, butt, hips, legs, and other problem areas. What’s more, studies show that pure, authentic extra virgin olive oil also helps you ease inflammation … protects you against heart disease, stroke, and even certain cancers … is a godsend for achy joints … and lowers blood pressure and bad (LDL) cholesterol. However, you gain these benefits only if you and your family are consuming pure, authentic extra virgin olive oil. And that’s where the Big Food industry is trying to fool you! As documented by several of America’s most respected media, many if not most of the olive oils in your local supermarket and gourmet store are fraudulent, adulterated, mislabeled, stale, or even rancid. This is true even of some famous brands whose names you’d immediately recognize. For example, the New York Times recently published an explosive article entitled “Extra Virgin Suicide.” It reports that much of the olive oil sold in your local supermarket is adulterated with cheap soybean and other inferior oils. That’s very disturbing because most soy oil comes from genetically modified soybeans. NBC News reports that “fake olive oil is rampant.” CBS News adds: “Consumers who think they’re buying one of the healthiest foods on the planet often get something very different.” “American grocery stores are awash in cheap, fake ‘extra virgins,’” confirms The Wall Street Journal. A feature story on ABC’s Good Morning America was headlined, “Olive Oil Fraud Rampant.” Forbes magazine warns: “Here’s the hard truth: the olive oil in your pantry, the one you bought for its health benefits and for some sliver of the seductive Mediterranean lifestyle, is most likely a scam.” Why is this happening? With so many recent studies hailing the health benefits of authentic olive oil and the Mediterranean diet, sales of extra virgin olive oil are soaring worldwide. Big money is involved, triggering widespread counterfeiting, dilution, and product substitution by unscrupulous foreign producers. American supermarkets have become dumping grounds for these fraudulent oils. Yet it’s almost impossible to police the shady foreign operators who supply these fake oils because they are beyond the reach of U.S. regulators. An M.D.’s “consumer guide” to America’s best olive oils If you click on the blue link below, you’ll discover an M.D.’s “consumer guide” to the world’s purest, freshest, and most nutritious olive oils. It’s presented by respected physician Joe W. Frazer III, M.D. The good doctor gives you two vital tips on how to buy safe and pure olive oil no matter where you shop. He'll also share an insider secret on how to look for the right “code words” on the bottle that will tell you how fresh the oil is (beware: it’s NOT the “expiration” or “best used by” date!). Freshness is critical because olive oil, unlike wine, deteriorates with age, and you don’t want to feed your family rancid olive oil. You’ll also learn how to store and use your oil so it doesn’t grow stale or rancid. When you think of oranges, a host of beneficial properties come to mind. However, the peel is an often overlooked aspect of this nutritious fruit. Historically, orange peels were highly valued and used for their essential oils in a variety of medicines and remedies. They are still in regular consumption (mainly as a zest) as part of the Mediterranean diet. Considering this diet is credited with numerous healthy benefits, they may be onto something when it comes to eating orange peels. In fact, the peel can contain as much as four times the fiber of the actual fruit as well as more flavonoids. Here's The Benefits The limonene and flavonoids found in orange peel seem to have anti-carcinogenic properties by acting as a blocking agent. Studies have shown that limonin and limonene, both found in high concentrations in the peel, can induce the enzyme activity of glutathione S-transferase, which is an important detoxifying enzyme. The citric acid found in orange peels also helps starve cancer cells by cutting off their energy supply. A number of studies have shown decreased risk of several cancers, most notably skin, breast and colon cancer, linked with the increased consumption of orange peels. In addition, orange peels and orange peel extract can provide an extra benefit to diabetics and those looking to reduce overeating. This is due to the fact that orange peels are a natural source of pectin, a natural fiber that helps decrease the rise in blood sugar after a meal. It may also be helpful in lowering cholesterol. In a May 2004 "Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry" article, Canadian researchers and the United States Department of Agriculture reported that isolated compounds from orange and tangerine peels showed promise as a natural alternative for reducing LDL cholesterol without the side effects of mainstream cholesterol drugs. D-limonene, another biochemical found in orange peels, is helpful in dissolving kidney stones. In fact, the use of D-limonene mixed together with concentrated, unsweetened cranberry juice or capsules has a proven track record in dissolving kidney stones. In addition, orange peel has antiseptic, bactericidal, and fungicidal properties, which are extremely beneficial in eliminating any kidney or urinary tract infections. This is why you’ll find orange peels as an ingredient in Jon Barron’s kidney, gallbladder, and pancreas optimization formula, KGP Flush. Orange peels may also help with heartburn. According to a 2007 “Alternative Medicine Review” article by Jidong Sun, Ph.D., Sun, d-limonene possesses the ability to neutralize gastric acid and support normal peristalsis. Allergy sufferers may benefit from consuming more orange peels as well, as the peel contains natural histamine suppressing compounds. Orange peels also play a role in lung cleansing by helping break down and expel congestion. ![]() Consuming orange peels. Most people aren’t going to start eating orange peels because they are so bitter. One method of getting the nutritious value of this fruit, however, is using the peels to make orange zest and adding the zest to foods and beverages. Making zest is simple. Just grate an orange rind with a grater or zesting tool. One caveat, however, is that in some studies, high concentrations of pesticides have been found in orange peels. An obvious alternative is to only consume the peels of organically grown and processed oranges, where chemical pesticides or herbicides would not have been used on the peel. Another option is to add organic food grade limonene oil or orange peel extract to liquid supplements. I hope you found this post helpful to improve you and your families journey to optimum health. Excerpts from Lessons from the Miracle Doctors Thanks for reading and here's to better health- better you Derrick Mangram Entreprenuer There are specific foods today that are natural healers that we can use without the help of medication.High blood pressure is a serious medical condition that plagues a large percentage of the adult population. This condition can be countered by dietary variations. Here’s a list of nine foods that you can eat to help lower blood pressure. ![]() Bananas are a great source of potassium. Potassium is known to counter the effects of sodium in the body. Indulging in bananas will help lower the sodium concentration in the blood thereby lowering your blood pressure. Eating two bananas a day is recommended to significantly lower blood pressure. They can be eaten as a snack, diced up into fruit salad or even added to smoothies to make it extra thick and tasty. ![]() AVOCADOS. This fruit is a must eat when it comes to lowering blood pressure. First, similar to the bananas, avocados have high levels of potassium. Second, this fruit is rich in mono saturated fats which increase the levels of good cholesterol in the body. Lastly, avocados are rich in dietary fibre. The fibre is not easily digested which helps you feel fuller for longer and keep your blood pressure regulated and stabilized. However, do note that avocados tend to be higher in calories and should therefore be eaten in moderation. ![]() Spinach is a dark leafy vegetable that is rich in potassium. This red, juicy, succulent fruit not only contains potassium, but is also rich in lycopene as well. Lycopene is a well known anti-oxidant which works by preventing the bad cholesterol from oxidizing and attaching itself onto the walls of the blood vessels. A tomato will not only lower your blood pressure but also prevent any future occurrence of high blood pressure. To yield the best results, it is advisable to eat the tomato raw so as to retain all the healthy nutrients. ![]() Indulge in this green, crunchy vegetable to lower your blood pressure. Excess water increases your blood pressure and celery acts to negate this. Celery also contains some beneficial nutrients that are able to dilate the walls of blood vessels which drastically reduces blood pressure. ![]() A tasty treat and snack that will help you nibble your way to lower blood pressure. Dark chocolate has a high concentration of cocoa which gives it its dark color. Cocoa is rich in flavanols. Flavanols aid in blood vessel wall dilation and improved elasticity. This helps in lowering and regulating blood pressure. Nonetheless, dark chocolate is not exactly a super food and should be eaten in strict portions as it is a high-calorie snack. ![]() This delicious tropical fruit is very rich in potassium. The fruit contains some chemicals that improve the elasticity and relaxation of blood vessel walls. Studies have shown that eating at least a cup-full of blueberries daily for a month or so can lower blood pressure by up to 6%. So there you have it. Thanks again Article by Remedist.net by Sarah Bruning ![]() There's a reason kale remains one of the buzziest superfoods on the block: This leafy green brings 659 percent of daily vitamin A and more than 900 percent of your recommended daily value (RDV) of vitamin K in a single cup. Kale also supplies more iron per ounce than beef does when it's cooked and contains 45 types of flavonoids, which all have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Try It: "To give kale a meaty, rounded flavor, toss it with oil and salt, then grill until it turns bright green and forms char marks," Cohen says. ![]() Collards. You can get more than a quarter of your reccomended daily calcium intake and two days' worth of vitamin K from just a cup of this broccoli and Brussels sprout cousin (they're all part of the brassicas family). Other benefits include almost half of your daily value of folate, an especially important nutrient for moms-to-be, and a mega-dose of cancer-fighting sulforaphane. Try It: "Take raw collards and fold the leaves tightly, then slice them very thin and serve with a lemon vinaigrette, or add them to your salad to give it some texture," Cohen suggests. ![]() Romaine. Swapping in this crunchy lettuce in place of your usual iceberg will add twice the protein and calcium, three times the vitamin K and four times the iron to your salad. Need more convincing? It'll also add eight times the amount of vitamin C. ![]() Broccoli Rabe. Cruciferous veggies FTW again. Glucosinolates—compounds that the body transforms into cancer-fighting sulforophanes and indoles—are the biggest reason to eat this slightly bitter green, which is also called rapini. It also delivers more than 50 percent of the average person's daily requirement for vitamins A and C, both of which fight off cell-damaging free radicals. Try It: "Set your oven on its lowest possible temperature and lay out the broccoli rabe leaves on a cookie sheet," says Cohen. "Let them dehydrate until they're crispy, and you can eat them as a snack or crumble them over a salad."
![]() Watercress. In addition to being a great source of vitamins K and A, these peppery greens have high levels of glucosinates, which may help prevent the development of certain types of cancer, including lung and colon. Try It: Watercress is great in salads and sandwiches, but Cohen's trick turns it into a tasty, splurge-worthy snack: "Make a basic batter out of seltzer and flour, then dip the watercress into it in fistfuls. Drop each bunch into a pot of oil at 350 degrees and fry them," says Cohen. ![]() Beet Greens. Don't toss the leafy stems if you buy whole beets: One half-cup packs a wealth of calcium, iron, and vitamin A, as well as 30 percent of the RDV of immunity-boosting vitamin C. Try It: Cohen uses beet greens to up her pesto game, and so should you: "Blanch the greens, then shock them in cold water. Add them to a food processor with olive oil, garlic and pistachios and pulse until they form a rough paste. Serve with the beets." This is one of the best ways to receive your "greens".
